The Sheldon Recreation Trail Committee is welcoming all of Siouxland to enjoy the green spaces and trails.

You can enjoy scenic views of the six-mile asphalt trail, which accommodates cyclists, inline skaters and hikers during the summer months.

Located in Hills Park, the signature arch is known for using more than 3,000 bricks recovered from the Sheldon High School and junior college.

"We have a lot of blood, sweat and tears in this trail. We do a lot of up keep,” said Jan Rolston, Sheldon Recreation Trail. “Twice a year we have clean up times where we get our committee and other community members to walk the trail with us and help with tree trimming and maintenance."

Enhancements in the trail include rest areas, picnic areas, and prairie restoration.

"We still have in mind, you know, getting around the south side of Sheldon and connecting the trail so it's a complete circle,” said Keith Rolston, Sheldon Recreation Trail. “You can just about get to all parts of the trail from here. It's a great system, 10-foot wide asphalt and concrete. And I think it's a really, it looks great."

The public is also welcome to enjoy wildflowers, prairie grasses, birds and wildlife outdoors of this community trail.
