Build it and they will come. That has proven true with the High
Trestle Trail Bridge north of Ankeny. Opened in 2011, it is now the most
frequented segment of more than 600 miles of recreational trail in the
greater Des Moines area, according to a new report.

Area Metropolitan Planning Organization uses 40 infrared counters to
document usage of trails. The counter located at the bridge logged the
passage of more than 16,000 users in June 2014, though other segments
are thought to be just as heavily traveled.
