A Des Moines man said he was attacked by a groom and members of a wedding party after he asked their limousine driver to move the vehicle out of a bike lane Saturday evening (Sept 15th).

The 68-year-old victim said he and his wife were riding their bicycles on Ingersoll Avenue around 6:15 p.m. Saturday when they approached a limousine parked in the bicycle lane in the 3000 block, authorities said.

The victim said he asked the driver to move because it was unsafe for bikes to pull into the vehicle lane of the street. The limousine driver said the wedding party was taking photos and, using profanity, told the victim to leave, authorities said.

While the victim was talking to the driver, the groom also told the victim to leave and the two argued, officials said. The groom pushed the victim and punched him in the face and several groomsmen also got out of the limousine, police said.

One threw the victim's bike across the street and the victim's phone was also damaged in the altercation, he said.

Several witnesses saw the assault occur, police reports show.

The limousine took off and no arrests have been reported.
