Authorities say a Minnesota man accused of hitting and killing a bicyclist in Iowa last summer faces a traffic charge.

The Clay County sheriff’s office said Cameron Koopman, 21, of Brewster, Minn., was driving a van that hit Mark Anderson, 58, of Langdon, on Aug.18.

Koopman has been charged with failure to stop in an assured clear distance. The charge is punishable by up to 30 days in jail and $625 fine. Authorities say Koopman could also lose his driver’s license for six months and face an additional $1,000 fine because the incident was fatal.
