Body Found near Trestle to Trestle Bike Trail

DES MOINES, IA The Polk County Sheriff's Office is investigating a body found underneath the Beaver Avenue Bridge near Interstate 80 in Polk County. Officials said a conservation officer found the man dead at 4:15 p.m. The officer was checking a recreation trail for illegal ATV activity near the Beaver Bridge when he noticed a tent visible from the trail. The 54-year-old man had been deceased for an undetermined amount of time, officials said. There were no signs of injuries. An autopsy is being conducted to determine the exact cause of death. The person has been identified and officials are notifying next of kin.
