REGISTER STAFF REPORTS As officials prepare for a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday morning at the Brenton Skating Plaza in downtown Des Moines, police continue their hunt for the person or persons who broke into the place over the weekend. When workers went to the building at 520 Robert D. Ray Drive on Monday it was immediately apparent that a lot of items inside had been disturbed, police said. A cash register appeared to be damaged and an undetermined amount of food was missing from the cooler and from shelves. Officers list no suspects on a crime report. The ribbon cutting at an 11 a.m. ceremony on Wednesday will focus attention on a new Bike World bike rental facility at the skating plaza. Organizers hope the rental outlet will encourage visitors and residents of the city to explore trails in the area and see downtown Des Moines.
