The other award presented by the Iowa Parks and Recreation Association went to the Siouxland Trails Foundation. Siouxland Trails Foundation also received the lay award for their involvement in getting folks to use area trails. Organized four years ago, the foundation came out with a trail map, and today they announced a brand-new version of that map. The foundation also sponsors a yearly bike ride on the trails called the "Tri-State Tour”. Robert Desmidt, Siouxland Trails President, "We get wonderful comments from people all over the Mid-west. We get a lot of riders who come down from Sioux Falls, Omaha, Council Bluffs, we've had riders from Des Moines, Minneapolis, Cedar Rapids, because we have something unique here and that's that opportunity to ride in three states in one day." This year's ride will take place Saturday May 17th. It's a 57 mile "trek" using local trails, and this year's event starts at the Marina Center in South Sioux City, Nebraska. You can pick up a trail map at city hall, the park and rec offices, Sergeant Floyd Welcome Center, and the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center.
