Mark your calendar for one of the biggest winter cycling parties in the Midwest!

The 2008 UCI Carousel Volkswagen Jingle Cross Rock It’s Jinglecross Rock, two days of cyclocross racing in Iowa City at the Johnson County Fairgrounds. All ages and abilities have races just for them, even kids. Spectators are free and the events are Saturday and Sunday, November 29th & 30th. MARK YOUR CALENDARS! Race web site | Race Details | Race maps | Directions | Last year's photos & video Enjoy a Big Turkey Dinner with the family and then spend the weekend at Jingle Cross! WANTED: MORE COWBELL: Seeking non-fun haters with a great party attitude that are willing to travel... to the Johnson County Fairgrounds on November 29th and/or 30th. Skill-sets wanted include: frivolity, some knowledge of "partyalogy", the ability to walk up mt Krumpit to cheer the field with cowbell and beverage in hand. Must be able to have a great time. Heckling experience is a plus! Must be open minded and willing to try new things (maybe even the 35 minute beginners race??). May find it awkward and strange at first to see so many people having so much fun at the bike race. Relax, you'll get over it! Most importantly is the ability to play cowbell with a steamy tempo while racers pass by. Apply in person at Jingle Cross! Santa wants YOU to be there. Don't disappoint Santa my friends... 1ST TIMER? Never tried Cyclocross ?!? This is a great place to try your skills in the 35 minute beginner's race then stick around for the other races. The course is for excellent spectating! Also, check out Cyclocross 101
SOCIAL A social party on Saturday evening is being planned in downtown Iowa City Saturday night. Stay Tuned for more info!
BIKEIOWA NOTE This will be my 3rd year participating and spectating at Jingle Cross. Of all the events we go to each year, I'd rate this one in my TOP 10! Robby Versteegh and Jesse Gertlis talked me into a cyclocross race a couple of years back. I had no intentions to race... Once I did it, I wanted more. Sure it hurt and the course felt brutal until you were done! Oh yes, You'll earn your beer then! It's so cool to see how the sport has grown this year, and Jingle Cross is no exception! It just keep getting bigger and better each year. It is so much fun to watch elite racers run up a hill only a few feet away while everyone is partying on Mt Krumpit. Of course it is just as fun to watch every race that weekend! There are tons of places to view the races too. OK, last year I offered a free beer to any 1st timer who beat me in the cyclocross race... Well, this year I'm not feeling so fast, so I'll take you up on YOUR offer to buy ME a beer if you beat me this year. Ha! Jeff? Kale? Bob? Jesse? Tobin? Taylor? Adam? Other takers?? :) We plan to be there all weekend, rain, snow or shine! Hopefully we will have good weather, but no matter what, the atmosphere will be low-key and a great place to spend the weekend. Come on out for the weekend - you are guaranteed GREAT time! Get there early on Friday and attend Todd Well's cyclocross clinic sponsored by GT bikes. Stay tuned for the time on this. THANKS to John, Todd and the crew for putting on such a great race weekend
