Clear Lake - Beautiful waters, breathtaking views, bicycles, blues and BBQ. Does it get any better?

It’s hard to believe that we’re getting ready to roll out our third annual Bicycle, Blues and BBQ Festival. Once again, it’ll take place near the beautiful shores of Clear Lake Iowa . This year, Bicycle, Blues and BBQ will be held July 6th-8th 2007. Festivities will start Friday evening and go well into Saturday night, then finish with a USCF-sanctioned race on Sunday. Rest assured, whatever you choose, the weekend will be nothing but good food, BBQ, beverages (of all kinds!), cycling—and some blues music thrown in for good measure. Experience all that beautiful Clear Lake offers through our multitude of events and activities. A wonderful weekend waits. Whether you’re a recreational cyclist or you hit the pavement competitively, Bicycle, Blues and BBQ has got you covered. Friday, July 6 The Bicycle, Blues and BBQ Festival officially gets rolling. Starting at 5 p.m. at the Surf Ballroom Get your stomachs fed and your soul revived at the Surf Ballroom, the legendary ballroom most famously known as the site of Buddy Holly’s last concert. Today, it still hosts a year-round concert series and event schedule. Starting at 5 p.m. on the Surf’s grounds, food, BBQ and cycling vendors will be set up and ready to get you fed and rolling for the weekend’s cycling events. Saturday, July 7 Register for one of three routes:

Baby-Back, a “light” 14-mile ride around the lake
Country Style, a rib-sticker at 42 miles
Cajun, a 70 miler for those wanting more spice in their rides

Starting at 6:30 a.m.— ride registration at the Surf Ballroom. Your ride will end at the Surf, where you’ll be greeted by more food vendors. (Of course, we’ll provide snacks and water along your route.) Stay the afternoon and enjoy food—yes, more food, BBQ and Budweiser beverages—and great music. Saturday's Surf activities are open to the public beginning at 11 a.m. and go until 6 p.m. Then make it a night with a blues concert at the Surf. more info...

Sunday, July 8 USCF-sanctioned road race Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Surf Ballroom. (You also can register Saturday at the Surf from 1-4 p.m.). See the race flyer for the entry fee. An awards ceremony, with prize money, will take place at the finishing area once race results become official. Catch the race details on the flyer below!
