Check out the newest bicycle-friendly central Iowa microbrewery and taproom right off the High Trestle trail-head in Ankeny!

We are super-excited to announce our newest sponsor - Firetrucker Brewery.

Firetrucker Brewery opens July 4th in the old Ankeny fire station right off the High Trestle Trail.

Social

Come up and grab some Firetrucker brews, get your jam on with live music and enjoy local food trucks! Sit down in our taproom, with lots of space to chill out in comfort. Relax in our sweet beer garden with seating for 158 people for accommodating all groups. Our Taproom seats 111.

Bicycle-Friendly

Park your bike in one of a hundred plus spots in our giant bike rack art sculpture and enjoy time on our large patio or come inside and hang in the taproom or setting areas throughout the brewery.

We'll have charging ports for your phone, lights and other devices as well as ice-cold water to fill your water bottles near the entrance.

Plan to start your next bike ride here!

Beer is Art

Our flagship house beers are on tap year round and we love to experiment with new seasonal brews. Our California Common, Ginger and IPAs stand out, but the house line up of dark beers goes over the top. Many of our porters and stouts have a smoky companion, compliments of our in-house smoked and milled grains.

Whether they are seasonal or just kick ass, we have craft beers and guest taps on constant rotation. Check out our Beer selection.

Craft beer is art! Enjoy!

Food

Firetrucker is working with local restaurants like theYankee Clipper,Wheel House Pizzeria and Pub, and Leaning Tower of Pizza to deliver food to the brewery. They are working on a system to call-ahead your order so food is waiting when you get there!

Visitors can also bring in their own food and there will be food trucks be parked at the brewery on the weekends.

Beer Garden

It's Big. It's Bad-ass. Park your bike near the beer garden where the beer garden "art fence" is actually a functioning bike rack. We LOVE how they accommodated for baggers and fat bikes with wider spaces.

The outside beer garden can host 158 and plan on seeing live music on the weekends. There are plans for "movie nights" later in the Summer as well.

About

The brewery is located in the old Ankeny Fire station that was used by the Ankeny Fire Department for 30 years.

You'll notice their logo, artwork and beers have that "fire station" vibe. The Porters and Browns have a smoky companion, compliments of their in-house smoked and milled grains

The owners (see photo below left to right) are Scott Kaven, Neil Zaugg and Dan Heiderschiet. All three quit their Information Technology related day time jobs to pursue their "home brewing" passion at a much larger scale.

Dan is the biker and brew-master of the group and made sure there were plenty of two-wheeled amenities for all the cyclists expected to stop by.

The art of craft beer begins with a spirit of innovation, a sense of community and the desire to improve life. We enjoy creating and sharing craft beers because it brings people together. By appreciating the simple, yet finer things, our quality of life improves. Also beer is awesome.

Locale

Firetrucker is located right off the High Trestle Trail trail-head near the uptown Ankeny District near the farmer's market and the future home of the Ankeny Market and Pavilion.

Right out back, the High Trestle Trail will eventually be extended to Des Moines thus making the brewery an even better spot for two-wheeled traffic.
