Description

Training Ride [Overall]

Distance - 30 or 50 miles

30 to 50 mile bike ride that highlights the "High Trestle Trail" which starts in Ankeny and ends in Woodward. You will get a first hand look at the new half-mile trail bridge between Madrid and Woodward. It looks as though the bridge will not be complete for this year's ride so highway will be used to travel the full distance to Woodward. The ride will have 3 rest stops on the way to Woodward and 2 returning to Ankeny. The ride will conclude in Ankeny at Hawkeye Park, where food and your choice of soda, water or beer will be available to registered riders.

Route

County roads from Ankeny to Big Creek State Park and then trail to Slater, Iowa and on to Madrid. Cyclists wanting to travel on to Woodward will then jump on the Highway to travel the remaining route. Coming back to Ankeny will consist of highway from Woodward to Madrid and then trail the rest of the way into Ankeny.

Registration information can be sent to you if you call (515) 963-3570 and talk to the Ankeny Parks and Recreation Department. Registration the day of the ride starts at 8:00 a.m. and concludes at 8:55 a.m.
