Recap/Results

Thank you to everyone who braved the elements and came to Webster City for a real MTB race yesterday. We had a few showers that made the course pretty greasy in spots but, all in all, everyone had a blast riding this course.

The Beginner race had some great action with Kyle Felkner (MBWC/Team 14) moving up three spots in the final lap to take the win in a rainy affair.

The Sport race set off with fair conditions and most said the course was perfect. With 2 laps remaining the skys opened up again and made for some tricky riding in places. This didn't slow down Dominic Moraneic of Atlas/Core Fitness as he led from start to finish with Todd Gillihan (Team Skin) spinning his single speed close behind. These two were the class of the field outpacing Jubil Young and Steven Reynolds for third and fourth. The women started 30 seconds after the men and Darcy Sanford (Team Skin) proceeded to march through the mens feild, passing 10 of them, on her way to a commanding victory over Jane Riessen (Mercy/Specialized).

In the Expert race the rain stayed away and the course was altered slightly because one sections was kind of dangerous. It was evident that the Saturday race in Nebraska may have taken a bit out of Cam Kirkpatrick (Rasmussen Bike Shop) as he watched Nate Cline (Mercy/Specialized) ride away to his first win as an Expert in Iowa. Kirkpatrick managed his losses finishing close to Cline but the two distanced themselves handilly from Sean Noonan (Milltown Cycles) and Chris Maharry (MBWC/Team 14) who were awarded third and fourth following an unforunate flat tire inthe final lap for Andy Lueck (Mercy/Specialized).

Thank you to all of the kind folks that volunteered and to all of the folks who stood out in the rain to cheer on their favorite riders. Thank you to the Rasmussen Bike Shop Cycling Club/Team for helping put on the race this year as well.

A very special thanks to our sponsors who help keep this event running: W.C. Public Grounds & Recreation Dept., Rasmussen Bike Shop, Pedro's, Panaracer, Bruegger's, Dad's Music Experience, Kenny Kruger, Salsa Cycles, Team 14 Productions, USA Cycling.

Thank you to all the guys that run the IMBCS (Cam, Kyle, Taylor, Ron) and to the Series Sponsors: Kia Of Des Moines, Chippewa Springs Water, BikeIowa.com, and Kerkove Media.
