Recap/Results

Thanks to everyone who made the voyage to Webster City this past weekend to compete in the Kendall Young Classic.

First off I'd like to send a shout out to all of the fine folks who sponsored the event. Without these people we wouldn't have been able to send everyone, including DNF's, home with AT LEAST one prize. Please show your support for these fine people when you can.

Pedro's, Oakley, Rasmussen Bike Shop, Hammer Nutrition, Witham Auto Center, Kum & Go, ClifShot, Hydrapak, and Panaracer.

Thanks to Fareway and Kenny Kruger for helping us prepare an outstanding free meal that everyone was extremely happy with. We definitely need more of this at races. Thanks to Jay Chesterman for providing us and the entire IMBCS bottled water.

Thank you to the City of Webster City Recreation and Public Grounds and members of the MBWC Cycling Club for use and preparation of the course.

This year, for the first time in six years, the KYP course bit back and took some prisoners. Showing no mercy on bike components the course threw a lot of interesting stuff that wreaked havoc on the competitors. Through it all Cam Kirkpatrick (Rasmussen Racing) continued his crusade to single handedly destroy the expert field in IMBCS races this year. Although at least 5 of the Experts had mechanicals taking three of them out of the race, Kirkpatrick hammered on and won impressively over Mike Blahut (ISU) and a hard Charging Jay Chesterman (Chesterman Racing) who suffered a flat and chased through the field passing at least three riders before finishing third.

In the Sport race Donny Quixote (JMZ Racing) went to the front right off the start and never looked back. Riding a single speed DQ cleaned house with William Fanter having an outstanding race to finishing second. Further back John Conlan (Rasmussen Racing) battled his way to third holding off team mates Andy Lueck and Pete Basso.

Three women did battle in the sport category as well with Amanda Miller taking victory over Terri Pottorff (Rasmussen Racing) and Keely Shannon (Midwest Rolling Thunder) who battled through the last lap with a broken cleat.
