The 5th Annual Quad Cities “Tweed Ride” will take place on Saturday, October 14th when bicyclists will gather at the Village Theatre in the Village of East Davenport to embark on a leisurely riverfront ride. Modeled after the original London “Tweed Run”, riders have fun reproducing the traditional English attire and spirit of a bygone era. All bicycles are most certainly welcomed but vintage velocipedes will be appreciated and fawned over! The ride will conclude with awards for “Most Dapper Gent”, “Most Fashionable Lady”, "Most Dapper Lad and Lass" for the kids, "Tandem Promenade" for the bicycles built for two, “Best Vintage Bike”, “Most Creative Bike”, and of course the coveted “Best Moustache”.
Cost to ride is free but riders who register for a paltry $20 will be eligible for the contests and prize giveaways with the proceeds going to help River Action. So dust off those jaunty wool caps and wax up those moustaches as we celebrate what is still the most wonderful way to propel one’s self from point A to point B…the bicycle!
