Recap/Results

WOW what a day !!   Rain, Wind, Muck and Hills..  Just the the 4 food groups - you may not like 'em all, but you have to eat 'em.  This course was hard!

The 150 mile race took between 12 and 18.5 hours to finish.
The 200 mile race took between 15 and 19.5 hours to finish.

2017 results. Any corrections, let me know. I'll have these posted to the website soon.

81 registered. 59 were expected at check in. 48 started. 25 finished. There were 8 200 mile finishers, and 17 150 mile finishers.

The 6 people in the 200 mile that scaled Dirt Mountain before I had the reroute flagged had 20 minutes deducted from their total time. The reroute reduced the total distance by a few miles.

Description

Gravel Ride

Distance - 200 or 150 miles

Full course: 200 miles
Short course: 150 miles

Spotted Horse Gravel Ultra is a self-supported gravel and dirt road adventure, and no crews are allowed on the course. There will be opportunities to resupply at convenience stores, and the distances between them will be communicated to all registered participants.

There are categories for open, single speed, fat bike, tandem, and 2-person relay.

If you are considering longer self supported gravel events like Trans Iowa or the Alexander, this is a good place to test your gear and your mettle. If you’ve completed multiple 100 km or 100 mile rides and are looking for your next challenge, you will find it here.

Visit the Spotted Horse website for detailed registration and location information.

Route

Expect it to be very hilly, with many turns and few flat and straight sections. There will be dirt B-roads, bridges, a water crossing, and probably some hike-a-bike sections. Parts of the course will be remote, with limited cell service. Other areas will be residential farmland, but all should be low-traffic, scenic Iowa roads.

Registration

$70 per person.
Registration fees will increase on September 1, 2017.
Registration will close September 22, 2017 at 5:00 p.m.
No refunds, no transfers, and no late entries.
