Description

Trail Ride

Distance - Unknown

To celebrate Wade's everlasting light in the cycling world, the Wade Franck Memorial Bicycle Ride and Raffle will raise funds to benefot the trails for the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation.  The funds will be used to connectthe High Trestle Trail and the Raccoon River Valley Trail.  Both are nationally renowned trails - for their length and features - and they are only nine miles apart!

All proceeds from the Wade Franck Memorial Bicycle Ride will benefit the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation to connect the High Trestle Trail and the Raccoon River Valley Trail.

As many of you know, central Iowa cyclist, Wade Franck, was killed by a drunk driver last August while riding on an organized ride in Des Moines.

A year later we want to honor Wade's life with a Memorial Bicycle Ride on one of Wade's favorite trails.

Did we mention that August 13th is also Wade's Birthday?  It is and it's going to be a special day. More about Wade Franck.

Please share, help honor Wade, and benefit the greater cycling community.. #rideforwade

A website has been set up for the Memorial Ride
WadeFranckMemorialBicycleRide.com

On Sunday, the Urban Assault Ride will take place in downtown Des Moines. There will be a moment of silence for Wade before the Ride starts.

Route

The Wade Franck Memorial Bicycle Ride is a convergence ride.  There is no mass start. Here are some options for starting with others at some popular places along the Central Iowa Trail network.  Choose a ride that works with your schedule and your riding ability.  Groups will ride to the High Trestle Bridge together, but keep in mind that everyone may not depart the Flat Tire Lounge at the same time.

Join a group to ride to the High Trestle Bridge or create your own ride.  Whichever option you choose, be sure to wear a helmet, bring lights and appropriate riding attire.  The Wade Franck Memorial Bicycle Ride is a rain or shine event
