Remember last October when the Des Moines B-cycle program had 6 B-cycles checked out (and not returned) on a stolen credit card?

The Collective just received word that on March 12,Tommy Lee Goineswas sentenced to two counts of second-degree theft (five years each) and one count of unauthorized used of a credit card (two years), to be served concurrently.

Looks like Tommy Lee won’t have any use for a bike for several years.

Maybe one day, we’ll snag the $750 in restitution.

Thanks for all who expressed interest in this news item—our first and only theft. Fortunately, we have experienced low vandalism to our fleet bikes, too.

Look for the B-cycles to return to Des Moines streets shortly.
