The Iowa Bicycle Coalition is hosting the Legislative Bike Ride and Bike Demo on April 1 at the Iowa State Capitol. Members of the Iowa General Assembly have been invited to ride through downtown Des Moines on streets, bike lanes, and trails on a casual 5 mile route with a stop at El Bait Shop for root beer. From Noon to 3 PM, Iowa Bicycle Retailers will have demo bikes at the West Terrace for legislators to give a test ride.
This ride will be casual, easy, and fun. We are looking forward to have legislators go outside and enjoy a short bike ride around town.
The schedule is as follows:
9 AM to Noon: Display at Capitol & Legislative Outreach, Room 15 (Legislative Dining Room)
Noon to 3 PM: Bike Demos and Test Rides, West Terrace
3 PM to 5 PM: Legislative Bike Ride, West Terrace, 5 mile ride with root beer at El Bait Shop
